IWAI Advertising Guidelines, Terms & Conditions:

The following guidelines apply to advertising on the IWAI.IE website:

1. Advertising is accepted in conjunction with advertising in Inland Waterways News (IWN).  Web adverts are billed in association with the IWN advert.

2. Advertising is charged at a fixed rate that is additional to the rate for Inland Waterways News.  IWN advertising rates are here.

3. Current rates for the website adverts are as follows:

   	One advert on 1 page	One advert on 2 pages	per additional page
   Quarterly (3month period)	€100	€150	€50
   Annual Rate	€250	€350	€100

4. Advertising is  limited to advertising likely to appeal to visitors to the website and be limited to those businesses that are waterways-related: boat rental, chandlery, insurance, boat transport, restaurants on the waterways etc.

5. Adverts are a maximum of 210 pixels high x 140 pixels wide - (the size of the "Waveline" advert at right"), shall be in JPG or GIF format and be no more than ~12kB.  IWAI can assist you in generating your advert. 
   Adverts on the front page are 170 pixels wide by 125 pixels high and are at a special rate.

6. Adverts may be "tastefully" animated, with a low cycle rate.

7. Adverts are linked to your website, i.e. clicking on the advert will result in the viewer being directed to your site. 
   "Alternative text" can be displayed when a viewer "hovers" over the ad - to see what this is, move your mouse-cursor to "Waveline" advert at top-right.

8. Bonus: All of our advertisers are automatically displayed in random order (3 ads per page) on our Discussion forum page which had ~218,000 page views in May, 2010.

10. While we will endeavour to satisfy your requirements, exact placement of the advert is at discretion of IWAI.
11. IWAI reserve the right to refuse to accept submitted advertising.
12. Advertising must conform to all applicable advertising codes.
13. IWAI reserve the right to modify these terms and conditions without further notice.

Referrals:
We count the number of referrals to certain types of businesses, e.g. the number of people who click on a link on our website to go to a boat-hire company.  The following are the figures for referrals in 2010.   In total, we referred 98,000 people to waterways businesses in Ireland in 2010.

Note that we currently check referrals to ~150 companies - i.e. those are the only ones counted below.  We do not check/count all referrals.

The above reads as (for example in RED above) 3,090 referrals to companies renting boats in Ireland from the IWAI website in March 2010.
Another example is (in BLUE) 43,995  referrals from the IWAI site to chandlers/brokers (again in bold above) in 2010.
