20/02/2010 saw a small group of Dublin IWAI members set out from Grand Canal Dock at 10:00 to do a quick reconoitre and tidy-up at Spencer Dock. Present are Derek Whelan, Mick Kinahan ,Malcolm Prince, David and Gavin McAuliffe. Michael Slevin is behind the camera and we were joined at Spencer Dock by Declan Enright.

20/02/2010 - The Dubhlinn leaving the Sea Lock at Spencer Dock
20/02/2010 - approaching Sherrif St. lifting bridge at Spencer Dock. The clearance of the bridge is 84 (2.13m). The bridge (dating from ~1948) is non-operational. Immediately beyond it is an ESB HT cable. The clearance under this was measured at from 54 (1.37m) to 63 (1.60m).
20/02/2010 - Looking south towards Sheriff St. Bridge - the Dubhlinn had to break the ice on the Royal Canal.

20/02/2010 - There are three rail bridges in parallel. Interestingly, the pillars on the southernmost are concrete, the middle one has cut-stone pillars while the norternmost one has cast iron pillars.
20/02/2010 - This is a lifting rail crossing immediately south of Newcommon bridge. As you can see, the bridge is actually sitting in the water with a clearance of zero. The bridge is bolted in place and isn't lifted very often. The spur carried by this bridge shows negligible use.
