"Arthur" and Rapport retun from CIC to Cliffs of Moher and Aran Islands

Wow!

What a week!

"Arthur" is now back at Kilrush Creek Marina having completed a CIC with Rapport to The Aran Islands.

Weather was superb...what a change from last year. Winds were nearly always below Force 4 and wave heights seldom above 2m. And sunshine to beat the band.

We started out from Limerick on Sunday, June 20th and we returned to Kilrush Creek Marina on Friday, June 25th.

In between, we cruised down the Shannon Estuary in almost perfect conditions..., passed around Loop Head, visited Seafield Point (near Quilty), overnighted in Liscannor, cruised below the Cliffs of Moher, headed over to the Aran Islands. Stayed at Inish Mor for 2 days and spent one day on Inishmaan.

And returned safely to Kilrush Creek Marina.

Enjoy!

Absolutly fabulous trip Paul. Delighted for you that you got such idylic conditions. I think you had done you "penance" last year so you were well deserving of a good break.cool smiley

You are becoming a bit of an "Old Salt" now Paul so I woudn't be surprised if you had the "Tallships" in your sights for next year !

Great to hear your good news and glad that all are back safe as far as Kilrush.
Only the gauntlet of Limerick left to run now !

Fair winds thumbs up

Congratulations Paul on some fabulous Pics. Yourself, Mary and John seem to have enjoyed the trip.
You all deserved it after all you endured last year.

Charlie.

Noel, Mike, David, Kevin, Richard, Charles.

Thanks for your comments re recent CIC and photos of same.

At Liscannor we moored on the outside wall of the harbour which does dry out. We had enough water underneath us so that we were not hanging off the wall!

In Kilronan we tied up at the short pier. Again we had enough water under us so that we were never hanging off the wall! There were mooring buoys further out where the yachties tied up and we contemplated moving there but in the end stayed at the short pier. We did check ropes at regular intervals...just to be sure to be sure.. smiling smiley

Limerick was not so much of a problem because we moored on the outer jetty. But water levels are low as the photos attest!

Heard that there was a break-in recently (last Saturday?) at Custom House Quay, Limerick and several boats were vandalised. Apparently the sensor at the security gate was smashed in the process. Gardai were called and duly arrived. Not sure if anyone was apprehended.

And yes, in the light of last year's disappointment it was great to get this trip under the belt. And it was truly memorable. Only regret is that we arrived under the Cliffs of Moher so early in the morning that the morning haze was still hanging about and visibility was not great.

And next trip...well, weather permitting we will be heading south...this time hopefully further than we got last year! Do not want to start tempting fate so will say no more for the mo!

Will update gallery with extra photos taken on return leg of trip when I get a chance.

Regards,

Paul,
"Arthur"
