Is there any updated info on this project such as scope, timeline. budget ect. Can this be shared on here or is it private? Would appreciate any info.

Hi Andy,

The sound of Silence.

I seem to recall that the last time that this issue was discussed on here (remember - Millstone or Milestone?) we were all told that this is "Not an official Channell".

If we want to know more about this project we should attend our branch meeting.

Please don't waste you time asking here - THEY don't want to tell you!

Happy New Year.

Regards to all.

Andy, Sure "they" don't pay any heed to the forum. Unless they're upset and have to remove a post.
I hear that topic is not finished with??????

Was just wondering if it was still on the horizon as there's been no further discussion or info coming up. Sorry if asking was incorrect will stay of the subject then.

Hi Andy,

Don't apologise for raising any issue on this forum. Just don't expect THEM to provide you with the information you request.

I always read your contributions to this list/forum. Ocasionally, I even contribute.

Keep asking - someone will probably come along with snippets of useful info.

Regards

Hi Andy

Sorry for not getting back sooner, my other project had me busy.

Nothing major to report we are plugging away with the preplanning work, discussions with Environmental people, Council, local interests and most importantly, the banks. I have also written to the Branches on funding etc. Paul Garland gave a full report at the Council meeting and we will keep members informed through Council\IWN. You can appreciate that this is a project run by unpaid volunteers giving freely of their precious family time this impacts on how quickly we can progress this most important project. There has been a significant number of meetings and work done on this project since it started nearly two years ago and I thank the sub-committee for this and their commitment to the project, they have have been doing an excellent job. I am sure the membership will fully support them in this.

Greg, Happy New Year to you and Brenda. Your boat is floating high. I saw it on Wednesday.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the brief update.

I do appreciate all the volunteer man hours that are expended by members of IWAI on behalf of the organisation and the membership in general.

You mentioned "Nothing major to report we are plugging away with the preplanning work, discussions with Environmental people, Council, local interests and most importantly, the banks."

Who are the Environmental People?
Council? - Do you mean IWAI Council?
Local Interests - Who/What would they be?
An most importantly, the banks??? Why most importantly? Are they being asked to loan money to IWAI for this project?

Money borrowed will have to be repaid. Are the members looking to go down that road? Would it not be preferable to ask the members to front load their membership sub for say five years or make a special contribution to a Dunrovin fund? That way you could be sure that the broad membership are behind the project.

Please don't think I am knocking this project. I think I am still on the fence on this one. I would like to see the full project plan and be satisfied that there is a requirement for what is being mooted before I decide.

The eventual outcome of any development at Dunrovin should be one which is of a suitable scale for our (IWAI) needs. I understand all about future proofing etc. but IWAI also needs to ensure that we do not end up with a facility which is grossly under utilised.

By the way, I fully subscribe to the suggestion that RNLI be facilitated with locating a base there on a part of the site.

Regards to all.

We will be providing regular updates to members in the IWN, I was just answering Andy's question.

As regards your specifics;

Who are the Environmental People? - The National Parks and Wildlife Service

Council? - Do you mean IWAI Council? - Westmeath County Council, they are the planning authority
Local Interests - Who/What would they be? - The neighbours and those that use the area.
An most importantly, the banks??? Why most importantly? Are they being asked to loan money to IWAI for this project? Anybody building has to talk to bank unless of course one has won the Lotto. If we have to get a loan we would need to know the conditions. There has been no decision on funding at this time as we have not completed a full analysis yet,

A full decision on whether to proceed will be made through the IWAI Council.

Fair play Greg. Whilst on here may not be an "official" comms channel for the Exec/Council it is nonetheless, a useful tool for diseminating info. I propose that all future IWAI conspiricies be plotted on here....LOL

Greg dont forget you may have to do an archeological dig as well. Harry Rice may have buried a few skeletons behind the shed.
