Hi Robbio The XLD418 is an evolution of the original XLD416, fitted to diesel Fiestas in the 90s. As such, any motor factor will have a suitable oil filter on the shelf. The fuel filter, however, not being an intrinsic part of the engine, may well not be the one used in the car/van. You'll need to either get the numbers off your old one, or even better, take it with you, when you go to buy the new one. Rest assured, they're readily available from pretty much any decent motor factors. Just don't mention the word "boat". '98 Fiesta 1.8dsl might be a good place to start. You don't say whether yours is a turbo, but if it is, then you should mention it to your parts supplier, in case there's a difference in the oil spec. If recent postings on here are accurate, you may want to stock up on fuel filters, once you've identified what you have! If you have any problems, pm/email me and I'll try to help. Duncan
Funny I mentioned the 1600 Diesel a few days ago on here! Our Fiesta was bought in Jacksons of Cavan new in 1984 and whilst one of the first in Ireland (she was Chassis number 330, theres a trainspotterish nerdy thing to remember) they weren't available in the UK for a year or two after that. I tried to get the Haynes manual but no good, had to settle for a generic diesel engine manual. Long gone to home in the sky. I'm sure in the intervening 28 years a Haynes manual has been produced with Diesel engine variant just as a single chapter.
You will have no problem getting filters for this engine in any motor factors. Just one thing to note, I see in the top right corner of pic 3, a standard CAV water separator/filter unit. This component is not a Ford fitment, but is probably the most common fuel filter in the world!,, You will get one behind nearly any hedge, They are primarly used on tractors and very many boats have them also. There will no doubt be a second fuel filter (ford one) mounted directly to the engine. One down side with this engine in a boat, it tends to be rather loud.
