Powerboat Run in Athlone 11/2/12 @10.45am Lakeside Marina

Hi All,

First Powerboat run of the year 2012 is arranged for February 11th @ Lakeside Marina in Athlone
With the plan to start launching boats from 10.45am .

The weather will play a major part of what happens next ,
Good weather will be a spin to Leacarrow via one or two islands
Moderate weather will be Hodson by via an island
and bad weather.... will be Athlone

We hope to have a evening meal in Athlone on return later that evening and this is open to anyone wishing to attend ,however we need to confirm numbers early to be able to book a table or 2 , (Valentines Weekend etc.)
So if you can reply to the post by PM or send a mail to powerboat@iwai.ie so we can get a idea for numbers.

Looking forward to seeing you there

Cormac

Yep sister ship dropped her tender and two more young hardy powerboaters joined the fun, she was also the only boat with a kettle that supplied us with hot whiskey so a welcome sight. grinning smiley

What a thoroughly great weekend on lough Ree i was lucky enough to be a guest on this outing and had a ball with visits to Nuns island,Barley harbour and Leecarrow.
Fabulous lunch in the Yew Tree Leecarrow consisting of soup and sandwiches for all at €6.00 a head great value and a wonderful service provided and then the spin back to Athlone (27 mile covered in total for the afternoon) for a superb meal in the Radison hotel and some entertainment then from De Band!!
42 members involved from Derg,Carrick,Erne,Dublin,Boyle,Athlone,Corrib branches and of course the wonderful hosts from the Powerboat branch.
A huge thank you for all the effort and organisation for what turned out to be a fabulous outing thumbs up
Not forgetting the Barrett Family for the use of their slip and facilities at Lakeside marina.Well done to all involved.

Yes indeed, well said. A great kick-off event for this season. Flat calm lake and not even a single shower of rain, unbelievable conditions.
Great weather, company and Craig.
A big thank you to the organisers from all the Ellis clan.
Still in Athlone as making a long weekend of it, so pics and video clips to follow soon........

A short video clip of various aspects of the recent PB Run on Lough Ree.
Web quality is only mediocre but nevertheless gives a flavour of the day.
