Hi All, First Powerboat run of the year 2012 is arranged for February 11th @ Lakeside Marina in Athlone With the plan to start launching boats from 10.45am . The weather will play a major part of what happens next , Good weather will be a spin to Leacarrow via one or two islands Moderate weather will be Hodson by via an island and bad weather.... will be Athlone We hope to have a evening meal in Athlone on return later that evening and this is open to anyone wishing to attend ,however we need to confirm numbers early to be able to book a table or 2 , (Valentines Weekend etc.) So if you can reply to the post by PM or send a mail to powerboat@iwai.ie so we can get a idea for numbers. What a thoroughly great weekend on lough Ree i was lucky enough to be a guest on this outing and had a ball with visits to Nuns island,Barley harbour and Leecarrow. Fabulous lunch in the Yew Tree Leecarrow consisting of soup and sandwiches for all at €6.00 a head great value and a wonderful service provided and then the spin back to Athlone (27 mile covered in total for the afternoon) for a superb meal in the Radison hotel and some entertainment then from De Band!! 42 members involved from Derg,Carrick,Erne,Dublin,Boyle,Athlone,Corrib branches and of course the wonderful hosts from the Powerboat branch. A huge thank you for all the effort and organisation for what turned out to be a fabulous outing ![]() Not forgetting the Barrett Family for the use of their slip and facilities at Lakeside marina.Well done to all involved.
Yes indeed, well said. A great kick-off event for this season. Flat calm lake and not even a single shower of rain, unbelievable conditions. Great weather, company and Craig. A big thank you to the organisers from all the Ellis clan. Still in Athlone as making a long weekend of it, so pics and video clips to follow soon........
