A quick query- is the built in GPS aerial on the Garmin work OK. Any other
issues to be aware of?

Thanks

Larry

If you intend to use it on the waterways it should work just fine.

Hi Larry, I have 276C and use an external aerial (low cost off ebay). The external aerial gives me many more satellites than the built in aerial. Not sure if the 551 can take an external, but if not the internal should work fine. The technology improved quite a bit over the 276C time. If you have a steel wheelhouse then you may need to place the set close to a window, and if it can take an aerial then I wouls strongly suggest you get one. I think mine cost 15 euro.

Hi Larry
Inside a grp boat or under a canopy wiill be fine. As per Les good advice, If inside a steel boat you may need an external antenna unless mounted close to forward windscreen. Noel
