Alas Richard it's not the case on the Royal summit. I came down tonight but it's still down roughly 13 inches. The land racks are locked in the open position. Looks like WI are not even us half a chance. The Coolnahay rack is fully open

That is unbelievable. I understood WI were aware of the desire to get boats into Dublin for the Rally and were alegedly doing all in their power to make it so.........
Doesnt appear to be that way on the ground? or is just that a non Canal Lake-lubber like my self doesnt understand the intricies of water level mgmt.
I come from the simple school of "If you want to stop loosing water, piut the bung back in....." !!!

I rang Liam Croash (Lock Keeper 17-40) Yesterday, he said that because they had to drain 34 and 36 secions to make repairs, the Coolnahay racks are open to refill these areas and he reckons they will be up around the middle of next week and the Summit should improve from then on.

Perhaps this is an issue the Exec would care to get their teeth into? Even to get an official response. "IWAI is the voice of waterways users and enthusiasts" - well let WI know we are being treated with a total lack of regard. I have great respect with WI people on the ground, but the office based WI bureaucrats seem to have no vision beyond their desks.

It has been repeatedly brought to their attention along with other Royal issues, including at the most recent meeting between the directors of WI and the IWAI Executive.

Dave,

One thing that needs to be made clear to WI, is that they NEED to lets us know when problems are in the offing. I was getting reports of the @#$%& falling out of the summit again for 4 days before I e-mailed them to see what the story was as, I had boats already en-route, and more starting over the Easter weekend. It's difficult enough to get people onto the canals without adding uncertantity into the equation. WI need to be making this info public as and when the need arises and not be waiting for us to ask, before telling us.
