Richard,

Using a keyboard is quite easy.

Having a reasonable understanding of certain system software is quite another. But then, you already knew that.

If the branches what to discuss it on here, or the members want to discuss it here there no issue, anyway with them.

I have noticed, on another thread, the constant reference to The Branch. The Branch is IWAI's way of communicating with members. Council reps are the designated way of sending information back to branch meetings.
Is there a problem with this method of passing on information?

I wonder, if you had a problem that was seemingly blinkered by "The Branch" who would you comunicate it with? Would you communicate with the executive ??

Well this forum would seem in my opinion the next best bet.

Would you spit it out .

Billy, If you had a problem ,would you spit it out here? Well you could pm someone and share it.Or our Exec are contactable individually.

You have me wondering. Is there something going on that we all should know about ? Or is it just our own branch?

BTW I reread this thread to see what it was about. How things have changed in a few months!!!

Hi Billy,

There are 6 Members Reps to Council to cover this contingency. I'm sure if you contact one of us, we'll do our best for you.

Dear Councellor Farrell,

You make me laugh. How would you represent Billy at Council? As far as I can see ,you lot, firstly and only ,care about your own interests!! What is your constituency?

How for instance, did you represent members at the recent Council meeting?

Hi PJ,

I assume your last contribution was a ball hop.

MF is well capable of speaking for himself. I'm sure he will be along at some point.

As someone who was present at the Council meeting on the 22nd September, I can assure you and all other members that Mick Farrell was very much engaged with those at the top table as a member rep.

He conveyed the concerns of those members who had contacted him, on to the Executive/Council members present.

I would have every faith in his ability to represent members views at Council.

In all honesty PJ open and free communication in all areas of the IWAI could do with being improved, the thing that seems to be missing is the desire to do so.
It needs to start at the top with the executive creating an open and inclusive way of communicating their vision for the organization, without the tension and aggression that seems to accompany information, "the if your not for me your against me" attitude doesn't foster debate, ideas or acceptance of the differing view.
We as an organisation need to be mature enough to accept that though we don't all share every view, we do need to have them expressed in a safe and tolerant environment. There are many people who feel that they cannot speak either here or at meetings for fear of being subjected social aggression.
I believe that we have this at every level within the organisation and if it is not taken into hand it will cause serious rifts between people and that will do damage to the whole organisation.
I know friends of many years that have fallen out over things that have been said and unsaid on this forum, a little bit of perspective would do no harm.

Personally I would have been much happier if the executive had communicated the Dunrovin project differently from the start instead of giving one option with information coming out piecemeal. I feel that they would have gained much more support if they had simply informed the membership of their intention to evaluate the uses for the Dunrovin site including outline planning permission, requested ideas or suggestions and give a commitment to bring the results to the branches within 18 months. That way the whole picture could have been put out in one cohesive proposal and given the members real choices instead of the current situation of "if's" that surround the financing of the project.

Time will tell in this regard, we can only hope that it does not do more harm than its worth.

Regards
AJ

Hi Kieran,

Ball hop or otherwise, unfortunately it's now a "fair comment". I did assure some people, rather naively perhaps, that a certain matter would progress in a certain way.

PJ,

I did me best and have apologised already for failing. Seems I now find meself in a somewhat invidious position though.....
Reviled by some Members for assurances I gave,
Reviled by the Exec for asking questions.
Reviled by me fellow council reps for suggesting we follow the rules.

C'est la vie, I guess.

Well Andy and All. I was ball hopping. But no one has caught it.

I phoned a friend last Saturday morning and his wife informed me he was at a Council meeting in Mullingar.

What meeting?

What agenda?

Why the secrecy?

Why no communication?

What's going on?

Actually ,I know the answers. I found them out since. I believe quite a lot of people are aware what's going on.[i.e. the world and his mother]

Would The Exec. care to make a statement??

PS. NO PMS PLEASE.

I have just come off a few very interesting phone calls and am now waiting with interest in a response also.
If half of what I've been told is correct it will be interesting indeed.

PJ, Andy,

We had a great oul branch meeting last night, lots of communicating got done. As well as "the world and his mother", you own branch will also have all the details of any recent issues, perhaps yis should go along and see whats what.
One of the things I discussed last night, was the possibility of getting me Branch Reps to represent me (as a Members Rep) at the next Council meeting. Tis a quare oul business this political stuff. I'm very confused by the whole thing...!!
