> Topic Tachometer required for Volvo Penta TAMD-63L Posted by Richard Ellis
Trying to get my hands on a replacement Volvo Penta Tachometer Volvo Part number873660 (Current rep unit number873998) Its really a VDO manufactured device, VDO Part number N02070009 so I'm guessing if I could get in contact with a VDO agent it might be posible to get cheaper or even to have repaired. Not having much success in the inter web so-far....! FYI, Volvo price is in the region of €400 ![]() Any advice gratefully accepted PS: Problem on existing unit is the rev counter has stopped working. I have already checked the tacho sender unit on the engine and it seems to be OK as is the cabling, so I'm afraid its down to the Tacho unit itsself. Rgds R (REFLECTION) Edited 1 time(s). Quote: We are a registered agent with VDO Germany and I bring in quite a bit of stuff straight from Germany, but VDO cannot sell any Volvo-parts, they have to be bought through Volvo. We also have an account with Volvo Sweden, so if you would like to come back to me off the list, I could ty to get you a price from Volvo ![]() As well as that I have a contact in the U.K. for reparing tachos, cables and the likes... Duncan, the option of using an alternator-driven tacho will only work, when the alternator is suitable (has a pick-up point), and most older Volvo alternators are not - but surely you know that yourself ![]() Oh, and I had a quick look in the meantime - and that speedo really seems to be in the €400 range, depending on the exact model ![]() Best regards from Killinure Point Sven ~~~~~ www.waveline.ie ~~~~~ www.wavelineblog.de ~~~~~ www.loughreemarineservices.com ~~~~~ Edited 1 time(s). Hi Richard, I have a similar problem with the guage, ie normal when switch on ignition and start engine, then guage goes straight around to 4000 rpm, and stays there regardless of actual engine revs. Would be interested to hear more about your "made up version of the programming/calibration" or where you found details if possible please?
