Inishcorkish western passage
27 May, 2012 09:15
Hello
Did somebody have an official navigation map from the 2010 built western passage of inishcorkish ? Passage is very safe and comfortable, - if you’ll find the
correct entrance
Want to know , whether my freehand sketch is usable.

The said passage is on the IBRA charts since last (the 2011) season (see attached - chart and sniplet ©Shannon Leisure Development Company Ltd). The charts can be got from Carrick Craft or most other hire boat operators.

Thanks for your fast information. The attached mapfile seems similar to Pas Vites map section .
Only the wrong labels are disturbing a little bit.

So which route past Inishcorkish has the most water?

...and are either of them deeper than the most westerly route (past Tirroroe)?

Hello
The new western passage is definately deeper than the eastern passage. Think the onliest problem is potential upcoming weeds during the season, and its a little difficult to find the entrance, if coming from the Knockninny side. Eastern passage -At the beginning of the season, the floating log and stones from the Colebrook R.are a big problem, and some boats get damaged, especially the propeller.
Tirraroe bay course seems not dangerous and should be deep enough, but south of Bockan Island are few shallows, with some groundings in the Easter week.
This is my experience - hope it helps a little bit !
