Subject: Hope you're free to come to the Grand Canal Clean Up Tomorrow -
Saturday 2nd June 10am - 12noon

Friday 1st June '12

Dear Fellow Grand Canal Enthusiasts,

I wish you all a lovely weekend!

Perhaps your weekend plans might include our Grand Canal Clean Up. It's on
tomorrow!

Here are the details:

When?
10am - 12noon on Saturday 2nd June '12.

Where?
Meet at Leeson St. Bridge (on the city side)
Look out for us at a canal bench. You'll see litter pickers, green bags etc.

What?
We'll be picking litter from around the banks of the canal. We'll have
litter pickers, bags and gloves for you........so you don't need to bring
anything except your energy.

As always, we hope that Starbucks will bring us up coffee and biscuits
afterwards.

For those of you who are interested in the history of the Grand Canal, may I
recommend a brilliant chapter on the Canals of Dublin. It's from a gem of
a book that my husband- John, discovered. The name of the book is "The
Neighbourhood of Dublin" by Weston St. John Joyce. It was published in
1912. The full text of the book is available on line. Here are details to
help you find it.

[archive.org]

The Canals chapter is on page 437.

I'd highly recommend it!

Hope to see you tomorrow.

Breffnie
