Diesel Bowser or equivalent

Diesel Bowser or equivalent

I looking at a short term and a longer term way of transporting diesel over short distances, i.e. a mile or two, say 300-500 litres at a time

(a) Anyone with a bowser I could borrow for a few hours in the greater Athlone area (obviously empty). Other then that I was thinking of those double walled plastic tanks that are in a metal cage. Anyone know where to get one ( cheap!),

thanks listees

What do you consider cheap?

I have a fully bunded CM bowser with 30ft hose, filter, flow meter and nozzle. It's twin axle and braked, also has lights etc

Hi alt. I looked at those and they all seem to be in the 1000s. My immediate requirement is for one carraige of 800 litres ( in say two trips) . My ongoing requirement is to carry smaller amounts.

I was thinking of strapping a double tank to a car trailer bed. Or something maybe even a IBC tank

The distance is less then a mile.

Dave,
I can't remember but I think I paid £4k sterling for it, so yes, they're in the thousands. I bought it out of fear that if I built my own one it'd chuck diesel all over the road some time and the clean-up in that situation is serious €€€

Sure for any serious amounts and to comply with ADR yes.

In fact mine may never be used on the public road.

It would be an IBC you are talking about

you can get small barrel / transfer pumps that are either windy driven or manual to transfer.

There is a company in Portumna that sells the IBC tanks and they also supply fittings for the bottom tap connector. They also sell a range of other types of tank. The IBCs are in the €60 range. I can't remember the name but i'm sure Mr. Google will tell you if you ask him.
