Shannon Water Abstraction

Just a small snippet of news on the water abstraction proposal that I picked
up the other day.

The consultants working for Dublin City Council have now completed their
modelling work and the folks in DCC are considering their report. There are
now 10 different options on the table including a sub-option of using an old
quarry near Rochfortbridge as a reservoir.

They will plan to begin a Strategic Environmental Assessement of 8 of those
options (2 have already been done) in April/May and that will involve a
period of public consultation.

They plan to publish a newsletter with more details shortly when they get
sign-off from the Dept. of Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
We've been promised copies and will either post them on our web-site or post
a link to them as soon as they are to hand.

Best Wishes,

Colin Becker
