Greetings,

Offaly County Council have given notice of their intention to carry out
works at Shannon Harbour along the lines of the plans they displayed before
Xmas. I gather there have been some minor modifications to the original
plans but as yet I don't know the details. I will post further details here
when I get them.

I have appended the text of the planning notice below.

The KEY message is that if you want to make comments on these plans you have
to do so by 4.00pm on March 20th.

OFFALY COUNTY COUNCIL

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT ACT 2000 (SECTION 179) (as amended)
PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS 2001, PART 8 (as amended).

In accordance with the requirements of section 179 (as amended) of the
Planning & Development Act 2000 and having regard to the provisions of Part
8 (as amended) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001, notice is
hereby given that Offaly County Council propose to carry out development in
the townland of Clonony Beg, Shannon Harbour. The development will consist
of the following elements:

- Erection of a 68.7 m 2 Amenity building to include an exhibition space
with
associated public toilets, lockers and shower room facilities.

- A 15 m 2 Courtyard area adjacent to the proposed building which can be
enclosed to form an external exhibition area.

- Installation of a play area for children.

- Installation of lighting, seating, litter bins, picnic tables, fencing and
a
car parking area.

- Ancillary road works and associated drainage.

- Ancillary landscaping and site works.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for
inspection or purchase, at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making
a copy, during normal public opening hours at the council's offices, ?ras an
Chontae, Tullamore, for a period ending Wednesday 5th March 2008. The plans
and particulars will also be available for inspection at Banagher Branch
Library during normal opening hours during the same period.

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development,
dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in
which the development would be situated may be made in writing to the
Director of Services, Water & Environmental Services, Offaly County Council,
?ras an Chontae, Tullamore not later than Thursday 20th March 2008 at
4.00pm.
