Appeal against development at Oldcourt, Terryglass

Greetings,

I see an article in todays Irish Times over James Hayden's by-line to the
effect that both the Dept. of Environment, Heritage and Local Government and
a group of local residents have lodged an appeal against a development at
Old Court Terryglass that was approved by the local authority.

You can see details of the development by going on to the North Tipp Co Co
website planning system,
[www.tipperarynorth.ie]

And typing in the planning reference numbers. 07510040 and 07510039

There appear to be two separate but related developments. (I'm not sure if
it's just my PC but the document viewer they use seems to be very flakey)

A brief scan of the proposal for Terryglass should set alarm bells ringing .
It would appear that the proposed development is rather large for a village
the size of Terryglass .The over development of Leitrim village comes to
mind in this regard. Perhaps a second look ( by the planners ) might be a
prudent course of action . All shannon users would welcome appropriate
services in the Terryglass area particularly extended harbour amenities but
at what cost that is the question .
