"Plates" , Neil...??? Is that a generic term, or have you actually
fabricated a set of plates...??

Yes.
I had made some SSR plates up with some thick white plastic and black sticky
numbers to cover up where my BW plates were, but have just made some Shannon
ones. I assume that when I re-reg Earnest this year I will keep the same
Shannon Number? I can't say I was very impressed with the single clear
Yellow sticker I was given with a teeny Shannon number on.....well I suppose
I do, already the Shannon lockies seem to recognise us and know the number,
without looking!

Yes Neil, your reg. no. will remain the same. You wont need to
re-register this year, the Shannon Navigation is a "one time only" type
registration. There's no fee, other than at locks and bridges, on the
main navigation and plastic cards for the SEW....!!! You will require
a Canal/Barrow permit if you're coming in off the Shannon, but you can
buy this in Shannon Hbr when you come onto the Grand...

Mick/Neil

Both of you have summed up the very best of what Irish inland water
navigation is all about. Long may it continue?

WI Notice - not very PC?

Hi Folks

This was brought to my attention on another site

Seems like pretty good advice to me Noel, and is it not basically the
same advice that your mother gave you when you were young,..??...
I.E......."Always wear clean underwear...just in case you get knocked
down"....
It even (in a very PC fashion) avoids discriminating against those who
cant afford or choose not to wear the said garments...LOL
