spaces in front of their houses

I agree, The attitude to berthing is incredible. Dromod is a classic example
, boaths tied up with half a boat length betwwen each, ask them to tighten
up a bit and see the look on their faces, however I'm 6'5 and 17 stone!!!!

Dave

Where did I say that jetskis, 4x4s or lightbulbs were causing global
warming? Instead of firing off what you obviously think are derogatory
comments about people's reading habits, you could try reading what they
say. In case you hadn't noticed, there is some discussion about the
future of 4x4s (London) and incandescent lightbulbs (Ireland). In many
parts of California where smoking first became unpopular, leaf-blowers
are banned. Whether they have anything to do with global warming, or
whether even global warming is a bad thing, I don't profess to know.

I always read your e-mails, usually several times, to understand them.
If you say you didn't mean banners were idiots I will of course accept
that.

Garrett

Whats disapointing is that teh "banners" generate a view that

Tim, if you want silence and tranquillity, 'on demand', maybe you should
install a water feature in your living room.

No Conor,
All I require is that in a no wake area which has a speed limit of 5kph
and when my family are enjoying their dinner, that it not be overturned
in their laps: that my son not be knocked down a flight of steps; that
the idotic morons who keep up this anti-social behaviour be asked to
observe the screaming people on nearby boats; that they show some common
courtesy or demonstrate the possession of at least two grey cells which
might be employed in realising that their behaviour is a source of
DANGER to other waterway users.

And Conor it would be nice that responsible users of the waterway
develop the smarts not to support this activity on the basis of innane
and smart ass comments about water features.

There is a big lake out there and no wake zones in place for good
reasons. Perhaps those who don't appreciate this would indeed be better
off playing with their 4x4s.

Regards, Tim

dave
Re: []was Cavan Jet Ski Bye-Laws now global warming
07 March, 2008 11:34
I wasnt being derogatory, I was making a point that the issues you mentioned
4x4 lights etc are a bit like boats holding tanks, they are not teh
problem, the problem is for example the huge expansion of coal fired power
station in China and australia.

Also I was making the point that the people are talking about global warming
by getting the information from the popular newspapers which just spout
populist rubbish ( A bit like Minister gormless saying that we now dont get
frost anymore, just before a it snowed in ireland in march!!!

Thats what I meant by opinions formed from red-tops rather then science. If
you take the time and energy to read the various opposing science on this
subject, the situation is a lot less clear-cut. far too much green issues
have been hi-jacked by policitos or by people who have a radical agenda, and
wrap it upin flavour of teh month green issues.

The hysteria out of global warming, a bit like the "war on terror" is being
used to implement change that has no real scientific basis, rather then deal
with teh difficult issues

As Noel said, why mention 4x4's or 2l cars, when there no facts to fact up
what you say or no clear definitions of what you mean. Its just populist
claptrap

As I said I;m not denying the planet is heating, its what are the reasons
thats in dispute

yes heres the snipet again

"Whats disapointing is that teh "banners" generate a view that teh place is
> full of idiots when in fact the situation is quite the opposite."

I said that the "banners" are trying to protray the problem as being more
excessive then it is. Thats a standard approach for all argumentors anyway.
present teh problem as being widespread , use terms like "many people have
phoned me to complain", "local people are unhappy", yet no actual real data
is ever presented to back up. Its easy to stir a hornets nest up , then it
is to step back , analyise the porblem, look at solutions and invest in
bringing thoese solutions to bear.
