New food option in Mountshannon

New food option in Mountshannon

Just finished a delicious venison burger cooked fresh while I waited. "Love Bia" is the name of the company. They have a web site lovebia.com

They operate from a spotlessly clean van near the Holy I ferry berth.

Highly recommended...

A bit breezy on Derg today!

...and what you didn't mention is that you were kind enough to interrupt same lunch to get an orphan secured to berth. Many thanks again John. The day turned out very pleasant. We had a lovely run up and back to Killaloe and mist lifted around 3pm.

Good to meet again Dave! And glad to have been of some help - non-mathematical help.. smiling smiley

(The mist followed me back to Dromineer along with a fresh following wind. )

All the best,

John

Afraid to report the newly re-opened hotel is now closed. Shame, wonder what happened?

Hi Fleur.

I assumed that the proprietors didn't want to continue running the bar until they can reopen as a restaurant?

Have you heard that the whole business is closing permanently?

That would be a great loss to the village and to us visitors.

Don't know the full story John, but speaking to a local today it transpires that staff were let go last Monday. The kitchen was apparently being prepared for business. Seems a shame , hopefully just a hiccup on the way to being properly reopened but dosen't sound too promising.

We were in Mountshannon today, a very pleasant sail in occasionally brisk SW winds.

We knew that the Hotel was closed (see below) but imagine our surprise when we found that the LoveBia burger van was gone from the harbour.

We walked up to the park hoping to find the van there but no joy. The market was there and a nice lady sold us pizza (very tasty) and said that the couple that run the van will be away for a week or two for work reasons.

Hope they come back as without them (and the market) Mountshannon is a bit of a desert for grub.

She also told us that the hotel will remain closed for 6 months. sad smiley
