MARINE NOTICE No 113 of 2017
Shannon Navigation
Lough Allen Canal Closed

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that as a result of Storm Ophelia The Lough Allen Canal, between Drumleague Lock and Acres lake is closed to navigation as a result of a fallen tree.

Waterways Ireland apologises for any inconvenience to customers.

A further notice will issue on removal.

Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their co-operation.

I was briefly worried that the disease had spread to WI. For many years, our local newspapers in Fermanagh have called the inter lough channel (the River Erne) between the Upper and Lower Loughs 'the Inter-lock channel.' Nakes my flesh creep. I see though in this case it's just a typo. Could happen to the best of us.

Lough Allen Canal Re-Opened

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that Marine Notice 113 – Lough Allen Canal Closure as a result of fallen tree - is hereby revoked and the canal is now open for navigation.

Waterways Ireland apologises for any inconvenience to customers.
