Branches
IWAI has twenty branches: five in Northern Ireland and fourteen in the Republic and one activity-focused branch. The branches are:

Northern Ireland: Lough Erne, River Bann & Lough Neagh Association, Coalisland, Lagan, Newry

Republic of Ireland: Athlone, Barrow, Belturbet, Boyle River, Boyne Navigation, Carrick-on-Shannon, Corrib, Dublin, Kildare, Lough Derg, North Barrow, Offaly, Shannon Harbour, Slaney.

Activity-based: Cruising Club

You can join whichever branch you wish. Some people join the one nearest their home; others join the one covering the waterway they use most. You are entitled to participate in the activities of all branches.

Membership Types
RoI branches offer a choice between single and family membership. There are three reasons why you might consider paying the extra:

- if two adult members of a family are involved in IWAI activities (e.g. as committee members or helping on a rally), family membership means that both will be covered by IWAI's public liability insurance if there is a claim against them for something done on IWAI's behalf (note that this has nothing to do with a family's own boat insurance, which is their own responsibility);

- family membership means that two named adults can vote;

- while our single membership rate is kept low, so as not to exclude anyone from membership, the family rate allows those who can afford it to give a little extra to the Association.
