New Pedestrian Bridge at Newcomen Bridge
Dublin City Council have applied for Part VIII permission for a new pedestrian bridge spanning the Royal Canal and Railway at Newcomen Bridge. More details here.

DUNROVIN - Planning Approved
IWAI has been notified by Westmeath Co. Council that planning permission for the proposed development at Dunrovin has been approved subject to a number of conditions. Further details on theWestmeath Co Co planning system, planning Ref 121030. See here
IWAI AGM
The Annual General Meeting of IWAI will be held in the Mullingar Park Hotel on Friday April 26th at 8.00pm. Further details about the election of Executive and Council members can be found here
IWAI Introduces Gift Voucher Scheme for Membership Subscriptions.
IWAI has introduced a pilot scheme of Gift Vouchers for membership subscriptions. Vouchers can be bought on-line from the IWAI shop. Recipients can then use the voucher to pay for their annual membership subscription. Vouchers are available for RoI Family and Single Memberships and NI Family Membership. New houseboat facility for Sallins
WI have applied for planning permission to Kildare Co. Council for permission to construct a new 210m fixed timber house boat mooring facility at Sallins. The facility will be for for 12 boats with electric and water service supply bollards. In addition there will be 45m of a fixed timber short term mooring facility, car parking bays for 12 cars, access pathway suitable for disabled access, and a sewage pumpout for boats. WI Prosecute harbour hoggers

New Canal Mooring Licence
WI is to introduce a new permit for people wishing to moor on the canals for longer than the 5 days allowed under the current system. The plan is to issue an Extended Mooring Licence allowing the holder to moor in a position allocated by WI on a soft bank area for up to 1 year. The new licence will cost Euro152 pa. The application process for the new licence will open in the autumn when all existing permit holders will be contacted. Boat owners will still require an annual Canal Mooring and Passage Permit to cruise and pass through locks. The fee to hold both the Permit and the Licence in 2012/2013 will be Euro278. WI will enfoce the 5-day rule for vessels without the new licence commencing in Autumn 2012. Shannon Catchment Flood Risk Management Open Day
