Generally, boats hired on the Erne can travel the Erne, the Shannon-Erne
Waterway and the Shannon system as far south as Killaloe, essentially all
of the waterways covered by the

There are some restrictions for some barges going further south than Lough
Ree (Lanesborough). Check with the company you rent from.

system, and the entire Shannon system as far south as Killaloe - essentially all
of the waterways covered by the

map. However, some barges are not
suited to the larger lakes (Lower Lough Erne, Lough Ree and Lough Derg).

Locaboat design & build all their own boats called "Penichettes", a cross
