Type: Safety Issue
Issue: 13:Ballyellen Lock Balance Beam overhangs River
Description: The end of the balance beam on the river side of the deep gates at Ballyellen Lock over hangs the river. A user unfamiliar with the area can slip and fall into the river when shutting the gate, especially if the bank is overgrown with grass and bushes.
Solution?: Signage on the balance beam would be a a help.
Action: WI have been notified following a recent accident.

Type: Navigation Issue
Issue: 33:Error on Chart 10
Description: Map 10 of the current Barrow Guide shows the navigation passing East of Aughnabinna Island. The Navigation Channel now passes west of the island, keeping the navigation on the west bank the whole way from Carlow Lock to below the bridge at Leighlinbridge
Solution?: Amend charts in next edition
