Welcome to the Lough Derg branch website of the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland (IWAI). Our ethos is family, and we are a community of people that look out for each other. The Derg branch is 1 of 23 branches composed of a voluntary set of inland waterways enthusiasts who advocate the use, maintenance, protection, restoration and improvement of the inland waterways of Ireland.

Lough Derg is an incredibly beautiful, long, narrow lake, with shores in counties Clare (south-west), Galway (north-west), and Tipperary (to the east).  Towns and villages on Lough Derg: Ballina, Dromineer, Garrykennedy, Kilgarvan, Killaloe, Mountshannon, Portroe, Portumna, Scarriff, Terryglass, and Whitegate.

2019 Rally Announcement

Preparations for 44th annual Derg rally are well underway now, and we are really looking forward to seeing everyone for another action-packed and fun-filled week on the Lake. Our Commodore is Alan Lindley, and the rally theme is Magical Water Wonderland. Dates and locations for the rally are listed below:
