Dublin Canals Ambassador Volunteer

Waterways Ireland Dublin Docklands Office are looking for outgoing and enthusiastic volunteers to take part in the Dublin Canals Ambassador Volunteer Programme.  This is an exciting opportunity to showcase Dublin’s Canals as an integral part of the landscape that makes up Dublin city. Dublin Canals Volunteer Ambassadors will volunteer a minimum of an hour a week to promote and inform those living and visiting Dublin about the distinctive heritage, ecology and amenity that the Dublin canals provide.

Volunteers are asked to commit one hour a week on a day of the volunteers choosing for a period of ten months. Dublin Canals Ambassadorvolunteers will be based along a stretch of the Royal or Grand Canal as is appropriate to the volunteer. Ambassadors must be over 18, have fluent English and be comfortable approaching members of the public. This programme will run from October 2018 to August 2019. Training, support, supervision and recognition will be provided.

The Dublin Canal Volunteer Ambassador Programme is coordinated by Waterways Ireland Dublin Docklands Office and supported by Volunteer Ireland and Dublin City Council.

Successful applicants will then be invited to a group induction on the 8th or 10th of October 2018.
