Anyone have any further info about this?

Seems interesting that such a big area is closed to navigation.

Hi John would it possibly be for weed cutting, passed it the other day and it was brutal,i would imagine navigation would be extremely difficult on the section i saw anyway.

Hi robbio c,

I thought as much. Looked quite abandoned recently.

Thanks for the reply.

Greetings,

I was on to WI and they said the main issue was indeed weed growth. The recent favourable conditions had meant they were unable to keep up with the level of growth. They hope to have things back under control and the canal re-opened by July 17.

Best Wishes,

Colin

Hi. It looks like the weeds are out of control from lock 3 and in towards the city. Was hoping to bring boat through but it's not looking possible the way things have got. Anyone any up to date info?

Anyone know who to contact to get through these particular locks. We were planning to cruise tomorrow. However we've been making several phone calls to lock-keeper and headquarters all day and unfortunately getting nowhere.

Should be either Ray Moore 086 827 8025 (Locks 1-6 & 12-13) or John O'Brien (L7-11). Not 100% sure about the names but the phone numbers are current.

If that doesn't work call the Dublin area office 01-8680148 or the Deputy inspector of Navigation, Shane Anderson in Tullamore. 087 286 5726

Best option is Waterway's Ireland office in Ashtown, (01) 8680148, all the best for your trip,

Joe.

Tks for such prompt responses Colin and Joe. Really enjoying the whole trip up from Graignamagh. We'd delayed part of the journey a while because of the marine notice so very eager to resume now that it's meant to be open again.
Cheers
