Boat service

Hi All,

Looking to get a full service done including the belts on my 30 foot cruiser.

Just wondering what I should expect to pay a mechanic.

The usual cost is about £300 for a days work plus parts. Suggest you advise where you are based. and expect a private message from members as service charges can be a sensitive mater.
Do request that your service is itemised so that your DIY boating friends can check that all items are covered. I have seen some shoddy service work :-
1. Dirty oil in the bilges.
2. Corroded battery terminals.
3. Fuel filter not changed when the item was charged for.
4. Low acid / water level in batteries.
5. A charge every year for Anti Freeze. This stuff now has a life of 5 years.
6. Loose engine header tank cap.
7. Failure to detect a dosed exhaust hose.

There are good service people out there. I can only advise on Lough Erne.
