Minister Madigan might wish to visit the new section of canal to Castle Saunderson. The bypass cutting at Derrykerrib Bridge is UNSUITABLE for Motor Cruisers commonly used on the waterways. If one was successful in navigating under said bridge you could not moor up as there is no jetty as suggested.

Has anyone else been through the new cut? I have, but in a 24ft cruiser, without difficulty.

I was referring to cruisers of 30 to 40 feet. You can get under the bridge in a 40ft with bow AND stern thrusters or a good crew with poles.(Colin you have no chance)..Why go to that expense and not be accessible to all boaters. Once again we see the powers that be who are not boaters failing to consult their customers and complaining about lack of finances. I am not surprised when these finances are so carelessly wasted..
