Boyne Lock Gate installation

The link below is to drone footage of the installation of lock gates at Staleen Lower on the Boyne navigation by contractors working for IWAI Boyne Navigation.

Total cost of this third lock chamber restoration was approx. €114,000 including VAT but not counting voluntary labour.
Included was the cost of getting planning permission at over €10,000.

The lock gate was installed in the most difficult chamber for works access in the whole navigation.
The weight of one leaf of the bottom mitre lock gate excluding the balance beam was over 4.6 metric tons.
Depth of lock chamber from copings to floor of chamber is 6.35 metres.
Adjustable gate hinge collar or gudgeon designed by branch - see it on video.

Best Wishes,

GMY Chang Sha
